Car insurance coverages

Discover all the ways you're protected on the road

Available auto coverages with Drive Insurance

Every Drive Insurance auto policy includes liability coverage, which all California drivers need. But there are many other ways we can protect you and your vehicle. Here are some of the most popular coverages our drivers carry:

  • Required

    Liability coverage

Covers injuries and property damage you're responsible for after a car accident. All California drivers are required to carry liability coverage.

  • Comprehensive & collision coverages

Comprehensive coverage pays for unexpected damage to your vehicle, like a fallen tree, hail, or other severe weather. Collision coverage pays for damage after colliding with another vehicle or object. You may need both coverages if you finance or lease your vehicle.

  • Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage (UM/UIM)

UM/UIM coverage helps cover you or your passengers' injuries if you're hit by a driver who has little or no insurance. All California insurers are required to offer UM/UIM, but you aren't required to purchase it.

  • Loan/lease payoff coverage

Loan/lease payoff helps cover what you owe on your financed or leased vehicle if it's totaled in an accident. You may need this or similar coverage if you lease your vehicle.

  • Rental car reimbursement coverage

Optional rental car coverage helps pay for a rental car while your vehicle is in the shop after a covered accident, up to your policy's daily and maximum limit. Note: You must have comprehensive and collision coverages.
